History Of Aaina Mahal The Aina Mahal was built by Rao Lakhpatji around 1750. Ram Singh Malam, the chief architect and designer of the palace lived in Europe for 18 years and learned several European architecture skills. The construction cost 80 lakh (8 million) koris, the said amount is equal to ₹250 Crore as of today. This palace was later converted into a museum in 1977. Unfortunately during Gujrat Earthquake the palace was damaged and had to be restored.
